LOURDES ANGELES VITERI TAPÍA

My name is Lourdes de los Angeles Viteri Tapia, I am the first of 6 sisters, 5 alive and one in heaven. I was born in Quitó on December 8, 1952, I come from a Catholic family, because my father was a soldier, they left me with my paternal grandparents, who instilled in me the love of God. At 8 years old I returned to live with my parents, facing poverty and responsibilities that I did not have before. Throughout my entire life I felt the need for God's love; Seeking my happiness, at the age of 30 I started a relationship with a man with whom I had 2 children: Richard and Paula.

When I went to mass one day I found out that they were going to give some Catechesis so I joined the 2nd. community of the Neocatechumenal Way of the "San Pedro Apóstol" Parish of Luluncoto in 1994, where I realized that I was living in sin with the father of my children and he, not wanting to marry me, separated.

On this path I was able to discover the mercy and love of God, which filled me with Hope, Faith and Joy. My separation from my children's father occurred when they were teenagers and it was a very difficult time, but with the help of my parish priest and my catechists I felt supported and was able to move forward. A brother on the road asked me a question: Do you love God? Because now he tells you to leave everything and follow me, at that moment I thought I was losing everything but as time went by I realized how much I had gained and that is how I entered the mission at the Redemptoris Mater San Pedro Clavel Seminary on February 9, 2011. I have currently been on mission for 14 years at the Redemptoris Mater Seminary, and I am happy to be able to provide this service with love for God in this concrete reality.
